Photo collages 1967-1976, 31 x 23 to 35 x 25 cm. Cutouts from magazines and illustrated books, mounted together and glued onto cardboard.

"I dabbled in collage on a whim, firstly because of the appealing material, and secondly because I realized that it opens up entirely new color relationships, a means of liberation, so to speak. Above all, the form becomes completely different, interchangeable due to the technique; you can make some interesting discoveries. I recommend it. I approached it with painting in mind, wanting to explore the pictorial form in several drafts and determine the direction of my work. So I'm still experimenting with that." - Herrfurth in a letter to his long-time friend and fellow artist Reiner Strub in October 1963
